Jacob Ashley

A Chicago native, Jacob began his dance training at the Chicago Academy for the Arts before continuing his studies in the modern dance program at Columbia College Chicago and at Ballet Chicago under the direction of Daniel Duell and Patricia Blair. Early in his career, he trained as an apprentice with Luna Negra Dance Theater and performed as a second company member with Giordano Dance Chicago. Jacob has built a dynamic and versatile performing career, appearing with companies including the West Indian Folk Dance Company, Momenta, Chicago Festival Ballet, Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Les Ballets Grandiva, Madison Ballet, Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, and San Diego Opera. In addition to performing, he served as Director of the School of Madison Ballet. His artistic work extends beyond the stage into choreography and creative leadership. In 2020, Jacob was honored as a recipient of the 3Arts Make a Wave, recognizing his impact as an emerging artist and cultural contributor. In 2022, he choreographed Feeding Beatrice for Forward Theater Company, further expanding his voice as a storyteller through movement.
